Local artists work on their pieces during our first Sketch Jam.
Sketch Jam Sunday is our semi-monthly character design event, co-promoted by Artful Dodger Tattoo. It was designed to pull local graphic artists together for a fun, inspiring afternoon of drawing, camaraderie and good-natured competition.
Ten to fifteen artists gather in the workspace at noon on a Sunday. We all start with a blank page or canvas, a theme and a character design assignment. Five hours later pencils are down and the entries are hung on the gallery wall.
Guests award points for drawing, design and it factor.
At 6:30, we open the doors to the public and have a themed after party to celebrate the art with prizes, performances and an interactive element that allows the viewers to award points to the artists. The artists are encouraged to attend this party and talk about their work with our guests. The three artists with the most points (and one wildcard artist, usually the highest “It” Factor) win prizes generously donated by our sponsors.
Participation costs $25 and includes free lunch, guaranteed art show participation, online promotion and the chance to win prizes.
